Z83 Application Requirements – Important
Applicants must use the prescribed new Z83 Application for Employment form.
The Z83 must be completed in full and signed by the applicant.
How to Complete the Z83
Applicants should pay particular attention to the following instructions contained in the Department’s advert:
Parts A, C and D: All fields must be completed.
Part B: The applicable fields must also be completed, subject to the instructions provided by the Department.
South African applicants are not required to provide a passport number.
Where an applicant answers “No” to the question concerning conducting business with the State or being a director of a public/private company conducting business with the State, the related question concerning relinquishing such business interests upon appointment may be marked “Not applicable” or left blank.
The question concerning official professional or occupational registration may be left blank where the applicant is not in possession of such registration.
Parts E, F and G
Because there is limited space on the Z83, applicants may write:
“Refer to Curriculum Vitae (CV)”
or
“See attached”
where appropriate, provided that the attached CV contains all the required information.
The CV forms an extension of the Z83 application. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that the information provided is accurate and complete.
Failure to provide the required information may result in disqualification.
Correct Reference Number Is Important
Every internship opportunity has a specific reference number.
Applicants must quote the reference number of the internship opportunity they are applying for in the “Reference Number” field of the Z83 form and on the relevant application documentation.
For example, different fields and locations may have different reference numbers even where the qualification is the same.
Applicants should therefore check the official advert carefully before completing their Z83.
Required Documents
Applicants should submit:
- A properly completed and signed new Z83 form
- A comprehensive CV
- Any other information specifically required by the application process
Certified Documents
Applicants should note that certified supporting documents are not required from every applicant at the initial application stage.
According to the internship advert, only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents on the day of the interview.
The Department also reserves the right to verify qualifications before making an offer.
Download the New Z83 Form
Applicants who need a blank Z83 form can obtain it from any government department/institution or download it from the Department of Public Service and Administration.
Download the Official New Z83 Application Form – DPSA
Important: Do not use an old version of the Z83 form.
