About the MTN Bayobab Risk and Compliance Trainee Opportunity

Bayobab is a Pan-African digital wholesale and infrastructure services company operating within the MTN Group.

The Risk and Compliance Trainee will provide administrative and coordination support to the assigned function within Bayobab.

An important part of the position involves supporting the Control Self Assessment (CSA) process. This process covers areas such as evaluating controls, maintaining supporting evidence, obtaining relevant reviews and attestations, managing control remediation and monitoring progress.

The trainee will provide the day-to-day coordination and administration required to keep these activities accurate, complete and on schedule while gaining experience within the Risk and Compliance function.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful trainee will assist with administrative, reporting, coordination and risk-related activities within the function.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing input during strategic meetings when required
  • Supporting enterprise-wide transformation initiatives when required
  • Facilitating ad hoc meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Escalating issues that may significantly affect time, scope, productivity, costs or resources
  • Providing input into internal and global projects
  • Preparing documentation required for decision-making and sign-off
  • Supporting the execution and alignment of the functional strategy
  • Preparing reports on specific projects when required
  • Preparing status and progress reports
  • Supporting appropriate risk mitigation and controls
  • Reporting progress to the line manager
  • Supporting improvements aimed at achieving appropriate service-quality standards
  • Researching content for presentations
  • Assisting with the creation and editing of presentations
  • Helping collect information for performance reporting
  • Following up with relevant stakeholders to ensure information is provided on time
  • Supporting the organisation and maintenance of knowledge-base content
  • Helping staff locate relevant documents and information
  • Supporting OpCo contacts on large or strategic opportunities when required
  • Assisting with service documentation, training documentation and business presentations
  • Supporting the development and updating of governance policies and strategies
