SHRA Internship Programme 2026 – HR & Regulations Officer Internships

The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Young Graduate Internship Programme 2026. The available opportunities include an HR Intern and a Regulations Officer Intern.

HR Intern

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a recognised three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma at NQF Level 6/7 in:

  • Human Resources Management
  • Human Resource Development
  • Industrial Psychology
  • Labour Relations

OR a related qualification.

Applicants should also have:

  • Computer literacy
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Administrative and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to learn

Duties & Responsibilities – HR Intern

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with recruitment and selection
  • Supporting employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Maintaining HR records
  • Assisting with leave administration
  • Preparing HR reports and correspondence
  • Supporting employee wellness initiatives
  • Supporting training and development activities
  • Responding to HR-related queries
  • Maintaining confidential personnel records
  • Supporting HR projects
  • Supporting HR audits and compliance activities

Regulations Officer Intern

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12
  • A recognised NQF Level 8 legal qualification, such as:
    • LLB
    • B Proc
    • BCom Law
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Willingness to travel

A valid driver’s licence is an advantage.

Experience / Added Advantage

The following may be advantageous:

  • Experience within a corporate legal environment
  • Regulatory experience
  • Valid driver’s licence

Duties & Responsibilities – Regulations Officer Intern

The successful candidate will receive exposure to:

  • Regulatory monitoring and enforcement
  • Legal advice support
  • Managing assigned regulatory cases
  • Inspections and investigations
  • Litigation support
  • Evidence gathering
  • Preparing case information
  • Legal drafting
  • Enforcement correspondence
  • Contract review and administration
  • Regulatory research
  • Responding to complaints concerning non-compliance with social housing legislation
