SHRA Internship Programme 2025

The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) has opened applications for its highly regarded Internship Programme, designed to provide unemployed South African graduates under 35 with invaluable workplace experience.

As a Schedule 3A public entity under the Department of Human Settlements, SHRA plays a crucial role in facilitating rental social housing for low to medium-income earners as stipulated in the Social Housing Act, No. 16 of 2008.

Available Internship Positions

The SHRA is offering multiple internship opportunities, each tailored to develop specific skill sets. Among these are:

1. Strategic Research and Planning Intern

This internship focuses on policy development, strategic planning, and performance monitoring. Reporting to the SRP Manager, the intern will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development and review of strategic plans and frameworks.
  • Conducting research on policy matters and drafting reports.
  • Supporting performance evaluations for SHRA programs.
  • Providing general administrative assistance.

Requirements:

Candidates must possess:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • A qualification in Public Policy, Strategic Planning, Research, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

2. Graphic Design Intern

The Marketing and Communications Unit seeks a Graphic Design Intern to enhance SHRA’s messaging through creative content. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, key responsibilities include:

  • Developing visual content such as infographics, animations, and digital materials.
  • Supporting the branding and production of both printed and online communication materials.
  • Managing social media content by creating posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance.
  • Assisting in the development of multimedia content, including videos and photographs.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • A recognized three-year bachelor’s degree or national diploma (NQF 7) in Graphic Design or Multimedia.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver).
  • Skills in audio-visual editing (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Pro Tools, Audacity).
  • Familiarity with HTML, motion graphics, and animation.

Remuneration and Duration

Each intern will receive a monthly allowance of R10,500 for the 24-month internship period. These positions require no prior work experience, making them ideal for fresh graduates eager to launch their careers.
