Ideal

The purpose of the externship program is to give a work- integrated platform for graduates with an end to expose the graduates to the Engineering Department. The Interns will be exposed to Asset Management (collecting, assaying and interpreting asset performance data) and Research and Innovation (exploration, invention and road safety).

Minimal Conditions for the Research and Innovation Internship

  • NQF 7 in Public Administration & Management.

Minimal Conditions for the Asset Management externships

  • NQF 6 or over in Civil Engineering.

Exposure

Internship Asset Management

Under the Supervision of a design director and Road Network Manager within Asset Management, the intern will be exposed to the following:

Business Monitoring/ Structures:

  • Preface to TMH3 Business Monitoring Specifications and TMH14 Business Monitoring Data Formats
  • Backing with tender medication
  • Streamlining Business Monitoring Database
  • Lading of Traffic Monitoring Station Information
  • Preface to TMH19 Visual Assessment of Structures
  • Streamlining Structure Database
  • Allocation of Structure figures
  • Business and Structure Data Quality Assurance

Road Network Management

  • Preface to TMH22 Road Asset Management Manual
  • Backing with executive tasks related to ISO55001 instrument
  • Procurement Gate design data landing
  • Configuration and trail section data verification and 3D Lidar establishment

Internship Research and Innovation

  • Under the Supervision of a Research, Innovation and Road Safety Education Manager the intern will be exposed to the following:
  • Design operation and administration of a exploration programme:
  • Coordinate shops per exploration concentrate area to establish, review and prioritise exploration needs
  • Insure external peer reviews of design proffers when needed
  • Coordinate daily progress/ specialized exploration focus area meetings to cover progress and insure alignment to SANRAL’s overall exploration programme
  • Perform executive oversight and contract operation conditioning including the operation of exploration design budgets, and reviewing and accepting mileposts for payment of checks
  • Insure that needed data is uploaded into ITIS Research Module
  • Coordinate the exploration impact assessment report on daily base
  • Coordinate donation of exploration progress/ results at assiduity forums
  • Insure that Master and PhD’s scholars admit the needed mentorship
  • Examiner the performance of the exploration platoon and platoon members
  • Coordinate update of panel experimenters every 3 times
  • Insure all needed exploration attestation is approved and electronically uploaded into the records operation system
  • Prepare attestation for the Focus Group Research and Innovation, arrange meetings and prepare reports on budget and progress for each meeting

Stakeholder Engagement and Technical Advisory

  • Manage collaboration, liaison and information sharing between exploration brigades within a exploration focus area
  • Attend to queries from experimenters and other internal/ external stakeholders
  • Maintain the exploration database (e.g. other exploration systems afoot, publications, etc.)
  • Report on the progress of exploration systems and labors for the applicable focus area
  • Share in the applicable functional working group for exploration and invention
  • Support the Research and Innovation director with other delegated conditioning

Employment Reference Checks

Employment reference checks are a demand as part of SANRAL’s reclamation and selection process. In order for SANRAL to conduct these checks a concurrence form needs to be completed and inked by the aspirant. As an aspirant of this externship, you authorize SANRAL to reuse all the information handed for the purpose of your operation for the externship as well as the verification and record keeping of similar credentials.
