Air Liquide is seeking a dedicated Logistics Intern to join the team in Pretoria. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing transportation activities and managing the flow of information from point of origin to delivery.
You will have the opportunity to evaluate and review transportation arrangements continually, identifying improvement opportunities to ensure our products reach their destinations safely, securely, and on time.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:
- Identify the most cost-effective transportation procedures to optimize cylinder distribution, preparing status reports for performance enhancement.
- Collaborate with a team of planners, drivers, and local customer support to ensure high levels of customer service while optimizing costs.
- Plan logistics for cylinders and hard goods for all depots and hubs in the region, maintaining a focus on safety, health, and environmental issues.
- Manage daily planning for primary and secondary deliveries, coordinating effective communication with depots for stock management.
- Recommend efficient transportation needs and procedures, supporting the reporting of transporter performance and tracking metrics.
- Ensure the safe handling of cylinders in compliance with IMS requirements and execute logistics plans to achieve timely delivery.
- Oversee daily operations of transport subcontractors, managing trip reconciliations, vehicle maintenance, cost validation, and ensuring delivery documentation is properly handled.

Educational Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Industrial Engineering
- Matric Certificate
Experience:
- 3 years of road transportation experience
- 3 years in distribution management
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- Inventory management experience
Knowledge and Know-how Specific to the Job:
- Familiarity with the Navision system
- Understanding of supply chain management, logistics, route planning, tracking, and systems
- Knowledge of cylinder specifications and products
- Experience with logistics systems and work planning
