| Purpose of the Job | The purpose of the Trainee Operator is to provide first-line technical support and problem-solving. The Trainee Operator is a highly collaborative role, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs to deliver the right solutions, while acting as a trusted partner. The role assists with monitoring the health of the data center and escalating when necessary. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role is accountable for participating in the required support activities. |

| Job Objectives | • Maintain frequent and timeous monitoring of operating systems. • Support the team with Monitoring and executing system backups. • Monitoring of store data interchange. • Assist with recovery of data and disaster recovery. • Support generator and UPS testing. • Proactively work to support the team in the achievement of ensuring backup media is moved offsite. • Ensure operation of network and system monitoring systems for stakeholders. • Continuously monitoring of client’s infrastructure. • Timeously responding to exceptions according to SLA. • Participate in System and Server Monitoring. • Develop an awareness of a wide spectrum of IT technologies. • Perform additional duties and responsibilities when requested. |
| Qualifications | • Grade 12 – (essential). • Certificate, Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Database or a related field – (beneficial) |
| Experience | • Exposure to monitoring and operational tools such as SAP and Linux – (beneficial) |
| Knowledge and Skills | • Proficiency in MS Office 365 with basic Excel skills – (essential). |
