Northam Eland Platinum Mine in the North West Province is offering a new round of Learnerships and internships for 2026, giving jobless South African youth and graduates the chance to gain real mining- assiduity experience while erecting strong specialized careers.
Northam Platinum Limited and is known for its focus on smart, ultramodern mining and long- term chops development. Successful aspirants will join structured programmes that combine theoretical literacy with practical exposure at one of South Africa’s estimable platinum operations.
Programme Overview
The 36- month learnership track is designed to guide learners from foundational chops to completely competent handworker status. The programme includes:
- Classroom- grounded theoretical modules
- Hands- on plant training
- faculty progression toward an artisan qualification

Minimal Conditions
To qualify for the learnerships, campaigners must have one of the following:
- Completed N2 subjects, or
- NCV Level 4 with seven subjects, or
- An original qualification not below Grade 12
More conditions include:
- Minimal E-symbol (40%) in applicable subjects
- Strong behavioural and attendance record
- Medical Certificate of Fitness
- Compliance with mine reclamation processes and Employment Equity principles

- Mathematics( not Mathematical knowledge)
- Engineering Science
- Engineering Drawing
- Applicable Trade Theory
- Diesel Trade Theory
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Plater/ Welder Trade Theory
Internship Programme (12 Months)
Programme Overview
The externship element is offered to graduates who need structured plant experience to complete or round their studies. Programmes run for 12 months and are open to internal and external aspirants, depending on discipline.

Minimal Conditions
- Grade 12 Certificate
National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6 or 7) in:
- Mining
- Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering
- Geology ( BSc)
- Need for plant exposure
- No former externship participation
- Medical Certificate of Fitness
Internship Duties
- Admit real- world exposure within their professional discipline
- Support specialized brigades on functional systems
- Gain hands on experience essential for career development
- Commit to the full programme duration
Operations must include:
- An streamlined and complete CV
