The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Transport Department has the following Internship opportunity available for a period NOT exceeding eighteen 18 months.

Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric
- Diploma in Accounting Sciences or Management Accounting or related tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting or Financial Management Accounting (NQF level 6);
- Enrolment confirmation letter from the institution;
- Knowledge of Computer Applications (MS Office Applications);
- Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
Primary Function:
Effectively manage, monitor and account for movable & immovable assets under the control of the Transport Department as prescribed by the City of Johannesburg Asset Management policy, in line with the relevant legislative prescripts.
Key Learning Areas:
- Capitalisation of movable Assets in all seven (7) regions within the City of Johannesburg
- Monitor Assets under Construction (AUC) / Work in progress (WIP in all seven regions within the City of Johannesburg.
- Physical verification of movable and immovables Assets in the fixed Assets register (capitaised Projects) in all seven (7) Regions within the city of Johannesburg for completeness and reporting and audit purposes
- Assets accounting & monitoring
- Provide administrative support in relation to the unit and maintain record keeping in compliance with record keeping requirements
- General office administration work, which may include basic word data entry, filing and Organising and related work
- Payments of Accounts payable
- Raise accruals on SAP system
- Acquisition of movable assets
- Processing insurance claims for reported damage or destroyed assets due to unforeseen events such as fire, theft or natural disaster;
