2025 Artisan Learnership Programme: Rio Tinto (Occupationally Directed Qualification Trades)

Placement: Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Artisan Learnerships It is a structured, occupationally directed programme that leads to a qualification registered on the National Qualifications Framework and is trade related.

The Accredited Learnership Programme covers Knowledge, Practical and Work-based Learning.

A trade is a job that requires an artisan qualification. An artisan is officially certified to perform a specific trade under the law/ legislation.

The following Learnership opportunities are available to applicants interested in pursuing a career in the following trades

  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Boilermaker
  • Millwright

Minimum Requirements

  • South African citizen targeted at unemployed Youth
  • Successfully completed Grade 12 with Mathematics (Core Mathematics) and Physical Science or Technical Matric (Trade related theory) or Grade 12 with N3 Mathematics and N3 Engineering Science
  • South African Driver ’s License is advantageous
  • Must NOT be registered on an active Learnership or Apprenticeship funded by a SETA or privately

Your application should include the following

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copies (not older than 3 months) of qualifications
  • Copy of South African Identity document
  • Copy of South African Driver’s License

Application Eligibility

  • Applicants who have previously participated in a learnership or apprenticeship program will not be considered.
  • Acceptance into the Artisan Learnership Programme is dependent on a successful interview and assessment.
  • Please provide; clear and visible copies of your issued certificates and licence must be attached with your application, failure to do so will result in your application being unsuccessful and an automatic regret of your application.
  • Only complete academic certificates will be considered with your application.
  • All application with only statement of results will be automatically disqualified.
  • As an applicant, please ensure you read and answer all pre-screening questions carefully, any answered may negatively affect your application.
