Who Should Apply

This programme is well suited to recent graduates or final-year students who hold a qualification at NQF Level 6 or 7 in any of the fields listed above. The variety of disciplines covered means that graduates from law, finance, communications, social sciences, data analysis, and library sciences all have relevant options to consider.

Given that the Social Sciences and Humanities category has the most available positions (9 in total), graduates with backgrounds in psychology, sociology, public administration, or related fields have a particularly strong chance of being placed.

Why This Internship Matters

A two-year internship with a Chapter 9 constitutional institution offers more than just a line on a CV. Interns gain practical experience in an environment that deals directly with matters of governance, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights. For graduates interested in public law, public administration, investigative work, or civic engagement, this kind of exposure is difficult to replicate elsewhere.

The spread of positions across provincial offices also means that applicants outside Pretoria and Johannesburg have a realistic chance of being placed close to home, which reduces the financial and logistical burden that can sometimes make internship programmes inaccessible.
