Overview
The CETA Internship Programme aims to contribute to reducing youth unemployment by offering structured professional and generic internship opportunities. The programme provides meaningful workplace exposure to young graduates, enabling them to gain practical experience within a public entity operating in the SETA landscape.
Interns will rotate across divisions within departments to ensure broad exposure and development. Progress will be formally reviewed at least at the end of each quarter.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing entry-level functional tasks within the unit
- Handling correspondence, enquiries, and maintaining records and files
- Providing administrative support during budgeting processes
- Assisting with audit preparation and information gathering
- Collating data and preparing monthly and quarterly reports
- Preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes
- Assisting with presentations (at least one per quarter)
- Performing duties delegated by supervisors and managers
During the internship, interns will develop:
- Knowledge of CETA as a public entity and understanding of the SETA landscape
- Theoretical and practical understanding of their functional area
- Basic knowledge of regulatory frameworks and legislation, including:
- Skills Development Act
- Skills Development Levies Act (SDLA)
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Tax Laws
- BBBEE
- Employment Equity and Affirmative Action

Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen under the age of 35
- Possess a valid South African ID
- Hold a relevant post-matric qualification from a recognised institution
- Not have participated in any previous SETA-sponsored internship programme
- Not have been previously employed
