Dis- Chem Apothecaries has an occasion available for a druggist Intern for their Athol Oaklands store. The purpose of this externship is to equip learners to understand the underpinning principles of all of the major areas related to the pharmaceutical terrain and promoting the notion of quality lifelong learning.The provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for the cases drug related requirements and being responsible for meeting these needs.To give excellent client service

Function and Duties:

  • Druggist intern may give or perform all the services or acts pertaining to the compass of practice of a druggist’s adjunct registered in the order druggist’s adjunct (post-basic) under the direct particular supervision of a druggist in a drugstore.
  • The trade of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 drugs or listed substances;
  • Help with the compounding, manipulation or medication of anon-sterile or sterile drug or listed substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible druggist
  • Help with the manufacturing of anon-sterile or sterile drug or listed substance according to a formula and Standard Operating Procedures approved by the responsible druggist
  • There-packaging of drug
  • The distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 6 drugs or listed substances;
  • The ordering of drug and listed substances up to and including Schedule 6 according to an instruction of a person authorised in terms of the Medicines Act to buy or gain similar drug or listed substance;
  • The reading and medication of a tradition, the selection, manipulation or compounding of the drug, the labelling and force of the drug in an applicable vessel following the interpretation and evaluation of the tradition by a druggist;
  • The provision of instructions regarding the correct use of drug supplied; and
  • The provision of information to individualities in order to promote health.
  • Druggist intern may, for the purposes of education and training, give or perform all of the services or acts pertaining, to the compass of practice of a druggist under the direct particular supervision of a druggist in a drugstore
  • Directly interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner and within the legal conditions in agreement with the South African Pharmaceutical Counsel.
  • Capture script details directly and corroborate case’s details on the system.
  • Insure accurate selecting/ quilting/ labeling off drug and be apprehensive of common tablets as well as important medicine relations.
  • Give accurate instructions to the cases regarding the correct use of drug supplied.
  • Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures and conditions for claims and allocating.
  • Insure that all conventions entered, are checked for delicacy by a druggist and inked by a druggist.
  • Advice and help cases at the apothecary, tone- drug counter and front- shop.
  • Follow up with cases regarding script tracking report as requested by the dispensary director.
  • Explain all medical aid cost to cases, including difference between medical aid and cash/ shelf price, if applicable.
  • Process all paperwork necessary for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids.
  • Correct crimes on scripts rejected by medical aid.
  • insure authorization of habitual, HIV and AIDS and oncology drug.
  • Maintain client biographies on the system.
  • Take note of any dispatches on the client profile and take suitable action.
  • Report on low-/ eschewal of stock situations and stock crimes to the dispensary director.
  • Help with listed stock takes.
  • Exercise stock and asset control.
  • Housekeeping must be in agreement to Dis- Chem norms.
  • Cleave to Dis- Chem programs and Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Cleave to Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Cleave to Dis- Chem Uniform and particular appearance policy.
