About the Programme

The Learner Technician Programme is tailored for individuals who have completed S5 studies at a University of Technology. It provides a structured learning journey that combines mentorship, workplace exposure, and professional development, preparing learners for high-performance technical roles within the steel industry.


Engineering Disciplines Offered:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed S5 studies at a recognised South African University of Technology
  • Proof of academic excellence
  • Confirmation letter from your institution to undergo WIL
