Job Description:

The Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI) is seeking 42 motivated and detail-oriented Research Data Collectors for a short-term project. This is an excellent opportunity for unemployed graduates residing in KwaZulu-Natal to gain hands-on research experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with door-to-door data collection in line with applicable procedures.
  • Collect data using surveys, personal and telephonic interviews.
  • Capture data in a MKRI prescribed format.
  • Maintain data quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards relevant to the process.

Requirements:

  • Must be an unemployed KZN graduate between the ages of 18 – 35 years.
  • Must have a valid tertiary qualification (NQF level 6 to 8). An NQF level 8 qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Own mobile device (working smartphone) with the ability to operate it.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficient in English and IsiZulu.
  • Code 08/10 driver’s license that is older than three (3) years and ability to drive independently.

Terms of Appointment:

  • Fixed-term contract limited to the duration of the project (estimated at 2 to 5 days fieldwork).
  • Remuneration: R350 per day.
  • No accommodation will be provided, so appointments will be limited to KZN residents belonging to Municipalities where data will be collected.

Disqualification Criteria:

  • Incomplete application forms.
  • Applications not supported by valid proof of address.
  • Applicants who do not meet any of the “Minimum Requirements” stated above.
  • Supply of incorrect information.
  • Non-availability during the last week of February 2025.

Additional Notes:

  • Candidates who have not heard from MKRI within 2 weeks from the closing date, can consider their application to have been unsuccessful.
