Transnet invites South African unemployed youth to apply for Technical Learnership Programme 2025.

The Transnet Corporate Centre is offering a 12-month Work Integrated Technical Learner (WITL) opportunity in Esselenpark. This program is ideal for students who have completed their theoretical coursework and are ready to apply their knowledge in the real world.

Key Responsibilities

As a Work Integrated Technical Learner at Transnet, you will:

  • Deliver specific tasks within your designated work-stream/department.
  • Shadow various staff members and engage in learning experiences to deepen your technical understanding.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to gain insight into procurement and other relevant operational areas.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide updates on progress.
  • Serve as a central contact point for supplier and end-user queries.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including research and report generation.
  • Produce MS Office Word and PowerPoint reports to clearly communicate your deliverables.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the WITL program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • University of Technology Students (S4/S5):
    • Completed all theoretical subjects in ElectronicsIndustrial Engineering, or Physical Metallurgy.
    • South African citizen with no bursary obligation.
    • Proof of confirmation/work-integrated learning letter from your institution.
    • Proof of qualification (academic record, certified matric certificate, ID copy).

Required Competencies:

  • Problem-solving: Ability to analyze and find solutions to challenges.
  • Communication skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative mindset with a focus on achieving shared goals.
  • Analytical thinking: Ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Preference:

  • Suitably qualified applicants from designated groups in line with Transnet’s Employment Equity Plan and targets.
