This initiative is aimed at students who have completed NC(V) Level 4:
- Office Administration with a W&RSETA background, or qualifications in Sales Management or Marketing Management.
The programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical workplace experience by placing students in Shoprite stores as Sales Representatives for the Shoprite Money Market Account.
Through this opportunity, students will gain meaningful hands-on experience in:
- Sales execution
- Customer engagement
- Financial product education
- Working in performance-driven environments
This exposure will significantly enhance employability and prepare students for long-term careers in sales, banking and retail management within one of South Africa’s largest retail and financial services institutions.
The opportunity includes the following key components:
- A 12-month fixed-term YES employment contract
- Placement of one student per Shoprite store
- A monthly basic salary of R3,360
- An uncapped commission structure, allowing high-performing students to earn above the basic salary
- Structured exposure to real-world sales targets, customer service standards and compliance requirements
- Potential for permanent employment upon successful completion of the contract, subject to performance and operational requirements
The opportunity is open to all qualifying candidates, regardless of gender, who fall within the age range of 18 to 35 years, in line with YES Programme requirements. This programme provides students with valuable workplace exposure and income-generating opportunities, while enabling Shoprite to contribute meaningfully to youth employment, skills development and economic inclusion.
