To support the implementation and maintenance of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system by coordinating safety activities, maintaining accurate records, monitoring corrective actions, and assisting with risk management processes to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Safety Administration & Compliance

  • Capture, record, and track safety risk observations, incidents, and near misses
  • Monitor corrective and preventative actions and follow up with responsible persons until closure
  • Maintain safety files, registers, and documentation in line with legal and company requirements
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations
  • Training, Inductions & Awareness
  • Coordinate employee and contractor safety inductions
  • Schedule and record toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions
  • Maintain up-to-date training matrices and attendance registers
  • Assist with communicating safety alerts, procedures, and updates to employees

Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct routine site inspections and housekeeping audits
  • Identify non-conformances and unsafe conditions and report findings
  • Follow up on corrective actions arising from inspections and audits
  • Assist with preparation for internal and external safety audits
  • Risk Management & Incident Support
  • Assist with hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA/JHA)
  • Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations
  • Assist in compiling investigation reports and recommending corrective actions
  • Monitor implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Reporting & Data Management

  • Compile safety statistics, reports, and presentations for management
  • Update safety dashboards and monthly safety reports
  • Capture and analyse safety data using Microsoft Excel

General Administration

  • Perform general administrative duties related to health, safety, and environmental functions
  • Manage document control, filing systems, and record retention
  • Provide administrative support to the Safety Officer / Safety Manager as required

Qualifications, Experience & Requirements

  • National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Health (essential or advantageous)
  • SAMTRAC certification (advantageous)
  • Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related legislation
