Programme: IEC Outreach Internship

Invitation from The Electoral Commission of South Africa ( IEC) for eligible youths to apply for the Outreach Internship Programme 2025/2026, grounded at the Western Cape Provincial Office in Bellville. This occasion is aimed at youthful people who have no way preliminarily worked in their field of study or completed an internship.

The programme is designed to offer meaningful plant exposure in communal education, community outreach, choices operation, communication, exploration, and general administration. It runs for a full 24 months and provides a yearly pay-check of R10 441.14.

Programme Overview

The internship provides structured, hands- on experience that helps graduates develop professional chops while contributing to the IEC’s accreditation of managing free and fair choices across South Africa.

About the IEC Outreach Internship

The IEC plays a pivotal part in strengthening republic across the country. Through this externship, successful aspirants gain practical exposure in:

  • Civic and republic education
  • Voter enrollment and outreach enterprise
  • Public communication and media tasks
  • Community engagement and stakeholder relations
  • Electoral operations and design support
  • Exploration, reporting, and executive functions

Interns report to the Assistant Manager Outreach, who provides day- to- day guidance throughout the programme.

Crucial Duties and Liabilities

Civic and Democracy Education

You’ll support core communal education and republic mindfulness sweats across colorful communities. Your liabilities include:

  • Aiding with community- grounded education and namer enrollment enterprise
  • Participating in youth- concentrated outreach conditioning
  • Helping coordinate public events, community shops, and stakeholder engagements
  • Gathering, collecting, and analysing reports from outreach conditioning across the Western Cape

Communication

  • Interns also help the parochial communication platoon with essential tasks similar as:
  • Supporting the drafting and perpetration of the communication plan
  • Streamlining and managing media contact databases
  • Preparing media statements and aiding with response workflows
  • Helping to coordinate media briefings and communication events

Exploration

The exploration element allows interns to strengthen their understanding of electoral processes and parochial socio- profitable dynamics. Duties include:

  • Conducting exploration on popular participation and election- related trends
  • Analysing data and preparing well- structured written reports
  • Exploring new approaches for communal education and youth mobilisation
  • Suggesting motifs for parochial study- leadership sessions

Finance and Administration

Interns give executive support across finance, HR, and functional units. Tasks include:

  • Aiding the finance department with attestation and processes
  • Supporting HR- related executive duties for endless, temporary, and electoral staff
  • Handling logistics, internal collaboration, and functional paperwork

General Office Support

In addition to core liabilities, interns also help with:

  • Drafting twinkles, reports, donations, and proffers
  • Organising meeting accoutrements and attestation
  • Managing form systems and supporting design tasks
  • Responding to stakeholder enquiries and helping with general office administration

Minimal Conditions

To qualify for this externship, aspirants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Completed Grade 12
  • Completed three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management, Political Studies, Communication/Journalism, Humanities, Law, or related fields
  • Must be a registered namer
  • Must be 35 times or youngish
  • Mustn’t have preliminarily worked in their field of study
  • Mustn’t have completed any former externship
  • Strong understanding of the Western Cape’s languages, communities, and socio- profitable conditions
  • Good written and verbal communication chops
  • Strong exploration and data analysis capacities
  • Computer knowledge with advanced MS Office chops, especially Excel
  • amenability to travel considerably and work long hours when necessary
  • Capability to work in a presto- paced and platoon- driven terrain
