About the Apprentices:

The John Thompson Apprenticeship Programme is a structured three- time training occasion that combines classroom literacy with real- world experience. It’s designed to help actors qualify as Welders, Riggers, or Boilermakers — essential trades that form the backbone of South Africa’s engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Apprentices will admit:

  • Theoretical instruction at accredited training institutions.
  • Hands- on practical experience within John Thompson’s installations.
  • Trade Test medication leading to full trade instrument.
  • By the end of the programme, successful apprentices will have acquired the chops, experience, and qualifications necessary to begin their careers as certified crafters.

Available Positions:

The 2025 – 2027 internship input includes 13 positions distributed as follows

  • Welding: x5 posts
  • Rigging: x5 posts
  • Boilermaking: x3 posts

These positions are specifically available to jobless youth abiding within the Lekwa Municipality and near areas.

Minimal Qualifications needed

Aspirants must meet the following academic and eligibility conditions:

  • N3/ National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or original NCV Level 4 qualification.
  • Must have achieved at least 50 in Mathematics, Engineering delineations, and applicable Trade Theory subjects.

Notes for aspirants:

Before applying, campaigners must insure they meet the ensuing conditions:

  • Only aspirants who live within Lekwa Municipality or girding areas will be considered.
  • Campaigners must pass all needed medical evaluations, including medicine and alcohol webbing, and must be fit to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility Apprentices must be willing to dislocate for training or plant exposure if necessary.

Needed Attestation operations must include the following:

  • A cover letter and detailed CV
  • Certified clones of academic qualifications and statement of results
  • pukka dupe of ID
  • Proof of residence
  • Police concurrence certificate (not aged than 12 months or evidence of operation)
