This internship will be a 3- time in- service training experience. This will be towards a qualification known as Tractor Mechanic or Earthmoving Mechanic. The first 6 months is exploration period. This period is use for the company and the hand to make sure it’s a long- term relationship. Any party may withdraw in this period without any consequences. Later the apprentice will be bind by an AFGRI contract and start his factual training. This training includes The apprentice will be going to a Practical Training Institute in the different phases demanded( If demanded). At the same time the apprentice will be written in for N subjects demanded at a council and will study as distance literacy( If demanded and if available). It’s anticipated to attend classes on Saturdays also. The distance literacy might continue as demanded while at plant. The apprentice will suffer Product Training from John Deere, other suppliers as well as AFGRI Internal training hosted by supplier specialists and our own specialists.

Above mentioned training doesn’t have training costs involved to the apprentice if passes, but any training failed need to redo on own costs and own time. All the internships are bound with the contract. This is a 3- time contract with AFGRI. Should the apprentice withdraw within the period of internship or the “work-aft period” there will be costs involved. Depending on time and phase of pull-out, the costs will be calculated. It’s anticipated that the apprentice work back the time it took him to qualify calculated on time base. The contract cannot be extended for further than 4 years. However, the contract expires, If the apprentice has not been qualified within 4 times.
The duties of the Apprentice will include:
- Trained to be a Tractor Handyperson/ Technician or Earthmoving Handyperson/ Technician form and conservation of affiliated outfit
- Responsible for stock control
- Client service
- General work in the plant

Should the aspirant not have the N2 qualification, the Matric Certificate will also be taken into consideration if the aspirant has subjects similar as Mathematics( Not knowledge)( Passed) Specialized Mathematics ( Not knowledge)( Passed) Physical wisdom ( Passed) Technical Science ( Passed) Engineering Graphics and Design( Passed) aspirants who are n’t in possession of the below qualifications can take over N2 demand subjects through farther Education and Training patronized by AFGRI as part of the program.
