Job Description

The IDC offers workplace exposure through an internship programme for a period of 24-months. Our programme aims to provide a customised, structured, and supervised workplace experience. This allows qualified youth to gain valuable work experience, explore career paths, networking opportunities and mentoring through experienced professionals.

The IDC internship programme is a 24-month fixed-term contract that provides workplace experience underpinned by a carefully designed training program customized to allow one to gain valuable work experience, explore career paths, networking with professionals in the workplace while earning a stipend.

Objectives: (Key Performance areas)

  • To develop a talent pipeline of skilled individuals for the various business areas within the Corporation and various sectors to address the unemployment rate in the country.
  • To create opportunities for unemployed graduates with the required qualifications to develop competencies for employability.
  • To grant graduates an opportunity to network with professionals and learn about the different career paths that are available in the Corporation.
  • To help graduates apply knowledge acquired from institutions of higher learning to a real-life work environment.

We are therefore inviting applications for an internship programme which will run for a period of 24 months. Interns will be placed nationally within the IDC (Head Office & Regions).

Qualification and Experience

Applicants must be able to satisfy these basic eligibility requirements to apply for the internship:

  • Applicants must be South African Citizens:
  • Applicants must be less than 35 years of age.
  • Effective English writing and verbal communication skills
  • Not be studying at any other institution.
  • Applicant must not be registered or have been on any Learnership or Internship Programme
  • All applicants must have a completed Qualification.

Applicants must be in possession of any qualification of the following fields:

  • BCom Accounting/Financial Management (Specialising in Management Accounting) or Financial Accounting/ BTech Cost & Management Accounting; Honours Information Science; Records management, BCom (Law); or LLB; Honours Degree in Mathematical Finance/ Financial Engineering/Quantitative Risk or Finance/Financial Modelling/Actuarial Science/Financial Econometrics/Mathematical Economics; BEng. Industrial Engineering/BSc Environmental, BA or Post Grad- or Advanced Diploma in Journalism/Brand Communication/Media Studies; Science/Construction/Civil Engineering. National Diploma in Real-Estate Valuation or BSc in Property Studies. Registration with SACPVP as a Candidate Valuer would be advantages (Land and Buildings). National Diploma in Engineering. Registration with ASA would be advantages (Plant and Machinery); BSc Engineering Mechanical/Electrical (registration with ECSA advantageous). Matriculants living with disability. BCom/ BA Human Resource Management, Diploma Human Resources Management/Development; Degree or Diploma in Education/BA/BCom Psychology, Information Management, Information management or record, Data Science, master’s in industrial psychology

Candidates will be required to undergo the competency-based interviews.

The following checks will be conducted, Criminal Record checks, verification of educational qualification and proof of South African citizenship.

Successful candidates will be required to sign a 24-month fixed term employment contract. If you don’t hear from us after 4 weeks from the due date, please consider your application unsuccessful
