2025 Internship Programme: City of Johannesburg (CoJ)

Call out from The City of Johannesburg to South African unemployed graduates to apply for 18 months Internship Programme 2026.

Placement: Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
The City of Johannesburg is offering internships in various departments, with positions available for a period not exceeding 18 months. The positions are designed to provide on-the-job exposure, which is required by tertiary institutions for students pursuing academic qualifications or seeking experiential training.
Here are the internship roles available:
1. Development Planning – Administration Internship
- Location: Braamfontein, Johannesburg
- Remuneration:
- R9 960,45 per month (for those who have completed a qualification with a minimum of 360 credits).
- R3 500,00 per month (for enrolled students).
- Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 plus a diploma or degree in Administration, Public Administration, or Business Management.
- Confirmation letter from the institution.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support, arrange meetings, record minutes, and maintain a structured record system.
- Competencies:
- Good communication, multi-tasking, attention to detail, teamwork, and customer service.
2. Development Planning – Spatial Transformation Projects Internship
- Location: Braamfontein, Johannesburg
- Remuneration: Same as above.
- Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 plus an NQF Level 7 qualification in the built environment (or equivalent).
- Exposure to project management is an advantage.
- Confirmation letter from the institution.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Key Responsibilities:
- Support project management, track project performance, engage with project partners, and manage documentation.
- Competencies:
- Project management knowledge, adaptability, communication skills, and organizational skills.
3. Development Planning – IT Programme Internship
- Location: Braamfontein, Johannesburg
- Remuneration: Same as above.
- Requirements:
- Matric plus a Diploma/Degree in Information Technology (IT) or equivalent qualification.
- Understanding of IT systems and data management.
- Confirmation letter from the institution.
- Computer literacy.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Manage users and systems of the Town Planning Application System (TAS) and other related IT systems.
- Perform data analysis, report generation, and write technical documents.
- Competencies:
- IT literacy, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
